Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically of 11 players each. It originated in England and is now popular in countries like India, Australia, England, Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand.

Basic Rules:
- Teams: 2 teams of 11 players.
- Objective: Score more runs than the opposing team.
- Gameplay: One team bats while the other bowls and fields.
- Runs: Scored by hitting the ball and running between wickets or by hitting boundaries:
- 4 runs: ball crosses the boundary after touching the ground.
- 6 runs: ball crosses the boundary without touching the ground.

⚙️ Key Terms:
- Wicket: 3 stumps with 2 bails on top
- Bowler: Delivers the ball to the batsman
- Batsman: Tries to score runs
- Over: 6 legal deliveries by a bowler
- Out: Dismissal of a batsman by various ways (bowled, caught, run out, LBW, etc.)

Player Roles in Cricket:
Each team has 11 players with different roles:
🏏 Batsmen (Batters):
- Their job is to score runs.
- Usually, teams have specialist openers, middle-order batsmen, and finishers.
- Example: Virat Kohli, Joe Root
🎳 Bowlers:
- Aim to get batsmen out and restrict runs.
- Different types:
- Fast Bowlers: Bowl at high speeds (140+ km/h)
- Medium Pacers: Slightly slower but rely on swing or seam.
- Spinners: Bowl slowly with spin to deceive batsmen.
- Example: Jasprit Bumrah (fast), Ravichandran Ashwin (spinner)
🧤 Wicketkeeper:
- Stands behind the stumps to catch the ball if the batsman misses it.
- Also tries to stump or run out batsmen.
- Example: MS Dhoni, Jos Buttler
⚙️ All-Rounders:
- Good at both batting and bowling.
- Vital for balancing the team.
- Example: Ben Stokes, Hardik Pandya
📍 Fielding Positions (a few key ones):
- Slip: Close beside the wicketkeeper, catches edges.
- Gully: Next to slip.
- Point: Square on the offside.
- Cover: Between point and mid-off.
- Mid-off / Mid-on: Straight but a little closer to the bowler.
- Square Leg: On the leg side, square of the batsman.
- Fine Leg: Down the leg side near the boundary.
Each position is strategic based on the bowler and the batsman’s strengths.
📝 Ways a Batsman Can Get Out:
- Bowled: Ball hits the stumps.
- Caught: Fielder catches the ball on the full.
- LBW (Leg Before Wicket): Ball hits leg and would’ve hit stumps.
- Run Out: Batsman fails to make it to the crease before the ball hits the stumps.
- Stumped: Wicketkeeper removes bails while batsman is outside the crease.
- Hit Wicket: Batsman accidentally hits stumps while playing.
